The factory of Sarafoam LTD located at Happy home avenue, Kirikiri Industrial Estate, Kirikiri town, Lagos has been consumed totally by fire - Kirikiri News Media reports.
A Sarafoam LTD worker who spoke to Kirikiri News Media disclosed that the fire started when an electrical spark from an office air-conditioning system met with an already packed mattress loaded truck which exploded in uncontrollable flames. The electrical spark was due to excess loading of the mattress producing machines in the factory.
"The passage was filled with thick smoke . As at the time we realized, there was fire everywhere. We all left our work and ran out for safety. There was a spark from the AC then it caught fire and burnt all the packed foams. You know that foam and fire aren't friends" a senior worker disclosed to Kirikiri News Media.
The company premises burnt to the ground and only a few goods were saved. The late combined effort from the Bovas oil, Techno oil and Lagos state fire service team only quencehed the raging fire from crossing over to other companies on that line as they counldn't save the company from its already devastated-fire-demolished condition.
However, there was no casualty. This incident makes it the second time that Sarafoam has been engulfed in fire in the span of two months and this may be the last batch of production for a long time coming from that factory.
Since January 2015, Kirikiri town has experienced a total number of eight fire incidents including Sarafoam LTD.
